My name is Aurora and I am the owner of the B&B Casale Fontibucci, which I run myself because I like to maintain a personal and friendly contact with all my guests.
I started this business in January 2004, when I retired after many happy years of teaching in the most famous Hotel and Catering School in Florence.
I taught Italian and History, but I also shared with my colleagues many fascinating experiences connected with hotel reception and tourism.
I love my city and its culture, and so, if you wish, I should be delighted to organise tourist itineraries off the beaten track, and book museum and exhibition visits for you.
The most ancient traces indicating the presence of a settlement in the territory of Bagno a Ripoli date back to the Etruscans, and later the Romans. The name "Bagno" (meaning Bath) recalls other famous Roman spas such as Aix-les-Bains in France or Baden Baden in Germany. Instead, the "Ripulae" refers to the hydraulic defence works that were built to protect against the floods of the Arno River.
Hi Rossella, in Florence Holy Friday is a very important day, and is respected the tradition of fasting. Adults have only one meal without meat. Mock fish,Pesce scappato, and cod are used in many families that respect the Catholic tradition. Try to cook it, is a simple recipe and very tasty. Bon appetit! Aurora

Be sure not to miss this traditional exuberant Florentine Easter celebration. An ornate cart carrying a lit candle is pulled through the city by two white oxen, leaving from Porta al Prato and ending at Piazza del Duomo. The Archbishop blesses the flame and then the colombina (the fuse, in the shape of a dove) is lit and a magnificent pyrotechnic display lights up the piazza. Tradition has it that the explosion of the cart guarantees a whole year of good luck for the city!
