Mozzarella & Tomato Platter

Description

Simple, yet lights up the party, Mozzarella & Tomato Platter always seems to put a smile on peoples faces. This platter can be used for many holidays as well as just to entertain friends and family on social occasions. We also use this platter during our midnight Christmas craving with Italian sausage and Italian bread... This is my first recipe that I'm sharing with you guys, and although its simple to make, I hope everyone enjoys this wonderful Italian-Sicilian platter.

Ingredients
  • 2 Fresh Salted (or unsalted) Mozzarella Balls
  • 6 Beef Steak or Salad Tomatoes
  • 1 Green Leaf Lettuce
  • 1/4 lb Greek Olives
  • 1/4 lb Oil Cured Olives
  • 6 Basil Leaves
  • Red Crushed Pepper
  • 4 Cloves garlic, chopped finely
  • Black Pepper
  • Salt
  • Fresh parsley, chopped finely
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Directions/Steps
  1. Simply slice both your Mozzarella balls into round circles, using your knife to go straight down into the mozzarella and put aside. Use the same concept for your tomatoes and put aside as well. Clean your lettuce, with a paper towel, remove excess water and lay down on a large round dish or platter.
  2. Time to decorate!!
  3. After the lettuce is down on the platter, start by using one slice of mozzarella and one slice of tomato. Laying the mozzarella side down first, slide the tomato a few inches over and repeat this process in a circle around the platter. Continue all the way around until you use up all your mozzarella and tomato.
  4. Drizzle Olive oil around the platter, enough to cover all around.
  5. Now, use the salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, garlic  and parsley all around the platter.
  6. Add the olives all around and the basil leaves on top.
  7. Drizzle a little more olive oil on top and there you have it! Simple!!
Additional Tips

This can be made hours before the event. Just cover and refrigerate!
