I'm a longtime journalist specializing in wine food and travel. After a career in broadcast journalism (Portland, Seattle, Baltimore), I wrote the first guidebooks to the wine country

of the Pacific Northwest (Washington Oregon, Idaho), then started a company that organized private luxury wine tours in France. I added Italy as well in recent years, and am the Director of Wine Tours for The International Vineyard.

In 2011, I was awarded the Collio Prize (Premio Collio) for wine writing. It was the first time the award had been given for articles written in English, and for articles published online.

I write about wine, food and travel for Edible Seattle, City Living Seattle, Crosscut, and Eater.com. When I'm not traveling, I work closely with the Italian restaurant community in Seattle. Nonna Enza Sorrentino, featured on this site, is a close friend.
